Brittany Red Face is a conceptual beauty photography test created in New York by Ken Jones, with makeup artist Yaakov transforming Brittany through layers of vivid red paint.
A Beauty Test Built for Impact
Brittany traveled from Texas to collaborate with our team on a test shoot designed around color, texture, expression, and graphic impact. The goal was not to create a conventional cosmetics image. Every decision—from the reflective paint to the direct gaze and stark white seamless—was intended to make the photographs feel immediate and unforgettable.
Red Paint as Makeup and Surface
Makeup artist Yaakov applied the red paint across Brittany’s face and body, building a wet, sculptural surface that caught the studio light in sharp highlights and deep tonal shifts. Black lips and purple eye color gave the look a hard editorial edge while the white background kept the compositions clean and confrontational.
From Portrait to Rorschach
As the session evolved, Brittany moved onto the white seamless while more paint was added. Her movement transferred marks across the floor, creating abstract forms around the body that began to resemble a Rorschach test. Those overhead frames became less like conventional beauty portraits and more like performance-based image making.
